The direct track from Caiguna to Southern Cross has no easy features like parallel roads to follow.
However, even without GPS tracks, you can dead reckon between the various large and distinctly shaped lakes. Lake outlines are faithfully recorded on WAC's so careful comparison between the map and the ground can accurately pin point where you are.
Both the camera and the GPS's were left on EST (UCT+10) with the camera time set to the nearest minute. By comparing the time stamp on the image file with the GPS Track Log, position and Altitude were then known for each photograph.
