What food can be found, with a glass of cold beer?
Can a clean bed be found, bathroom and no snakes?
Accommodation in remote landing places, in the Outback can have the added benefit of a complimentary ride into ‘town’ from the airstrip. Close proximity is usually important, and aviation-friendly a plus. The AOPA directory (Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association) offer good information. Internet searches are time consuming and most only supply a phone number. Photos are very helpful if they can be discovered. Not too many choices, but very friendly people.

Helpful Internet resources are feedback sites from travellers who are only too happy to pass on their experiences. Families in 4WDs, pilots, lone cyclists, backpackers, etc.

Flight Plan Revision, shopping and aircraft loading was done during part of Thursday 20th September and Friday 21st September 2007, familiarisation flight, local Melbourne.

Summary: First major gold discovery in the huge Eastern Goldfields region.
357mts ASL, 368 km east of Perth.

Monday, September 24th 2007 – Denham, WA (population 1500)

Summary: Shark Bay is the small airstrip outside Denham, Monkey Mia.
Flying time approx 6hrs, covering approx 650 nautical miles.
